We sold those reels some time back being an Orvis dealer and I believe they were made by Ross for Orvis but could be wrong.

I think they came in direct drive and anti-reverse?

Only problem now with reels that were produced by someone else is the fact that service, parts and spools might not be available.

If you have an old reel that was made by a 'fly reel only' manufacturer like Ross, Abel, Tibor, Waterworks, Nautilus, Bauer or Galvan they can usually take care of anything including their lifetime warranty.

If the manufacture can't help, you can always send it to Bill Archuleta's reel repair.

the orvis dxr reels were made by lamson. The had the same drag as a battenkill reel. If you need parts orvis should be able to help.

Great Shawn,

I think you are right about Lamson making that reel.
