In 3 days of fishing we covered from the Cole Hatchery down to Dodge Bridge.
Friday morning I landed 2. 1st was a small half pounder. 2nd was a nice 5-6lb adult. One on an ugly bug (brindle bug) sencond on a size 12 beadhead.
Spent pretty much the rest of the trip guiding/rowing for my Father-in-law and his buddy. His buddy(1st ever steelhead trip) landed 4 nice adults and had a 5th come unbuttoned. My father-in-law caught 1 steelie and 2 nice trout. They each mised their fair share of strikes.
The water level was higher than I have ever fished it(2,300cfs), so I learned a lot about the dynamics of the river.
Busted an oar on the first run of the first day. Scary!! I will always cary a spare from now on. As luck would have it a couple of guys gave me a ride down to my truck and I was able to pick up a new set in Shady Cove. This is a breat time to be on the river, a good number of fish, and all the trees turning, it was just beautiful.
All in all it was a great trip and we got to stay in my favorite place right on the river. I could not believe it when we added up the totals for the trip, each guy had spent about $380 for the whole thing(not counting the new oars). What a bargin.
