Slage and I went out to Putah On Sunday. Slage caught a nice 14" on his 4th cast "no pic of course but I saw it". I didn't have a grab all day. I think we walked down every path on the creek "very tired today". Tried to fish the bridge but there were too many bodies up that way. Quite a few people fishing up there and we didn't see any rods bending.

We did see the "bono truck" and pulled behind him as he was leaving. I was suprised to see him jump in his truck as fast as a rabbit when we pulled up. I just wanted to say hello and get some info about a guided trip.

All in all it was a great day, great excersise and beautiful weather. I did have a question for the Putah experts though.....

What is this bug?

The way it was flying I thought it was a BWO. When I grabbed it I thought it was a mosquito hawk.....any ideas?

The bug is a Crane Fly. In Google Images type in Crane Fly and you will lots of them.

I think it is some kind of an adult chironomid.

Cranefly is what it is...

Can someone PM spots to go to on Putah? I'm always fishing around the bridge and it's always loaded with people...I want to get away and possibly bring my dog 8) I like some of the faster water sections of the creek, if you guys have any thoughts...I haven't been there in several years. Thanks for any info in advance! :D
