Went up on Friday am despite the lousy forecast. The further north the grayer it got. Unpacked and on the river about 3:30. I fish the upper section between Lewiston and Buckhorn. Flows good, water clear. Picked up 5 fish before freezing out at dark - 1 18" steelie, 1 14" brown and a couple of 1/4 pounders. All fish took large (10-12) caddis patterns. Overnite, it rained about 1/2 inch, but Saturday was cool (45-50) and cloudy with no rain. Fished the same area, same patterns, 6 hookups, 1 16" steelie landed, four breakoffs and 1 premature LDR, all good fish, all solidly hooked. Clouds began burning off and by 12:30, bright, sunny, and partly cloudy. 1 guide boat, about 5 other anglers in 3 1/2 hours. Lots of salmon in the river so be careful where you put your feet when wading the shallows. Off to Weaverville to the bakery (Susie's?) for some great pastry and bread, picked up hand warmer, gloves, stocking hat, lunch and back on the rive at 3:30. One hookup and breakoff - all I saw was 20" inches of red stripe - could not handle the fish and he broke me off in the center of an 11.5 # test tippet; picked up another brown and a couple of 1/4 pounders. Sunday: Up at 8:30, cloudy, low 40s. A few missed strikes, and one 18" brown on a large Renegade. Sky closing in, getting colder. Back to the house, finish the chores and leave just as it's starting to rain. Mixed rain and snow all the way to the top of Buckhorn but nothing serious. Snow on all the peaks above 3000 feet.

If you go, take: gloves, a warm hat, wading jacket, and fleece pants for wear inside your waders. Water temp was not too bad if you dressed for it. Keeping your hands warm is the challenge.

The Trinity can get pretty cold, I was glad to have brought my gloves during my last trip. Bring some ICE OFF for your rod guides as well, hard to fish when line doesn't slip through the guides. Thanks for the report.
