Does anyone still tie the Silver Hilton? I'm still cleaning out my tying area and have some nice necks with perfect silver hilton wings. Or should I just throw them in the box for the high schools.
Do they tie up steelhead flies

I recommend that you give them to the kids.

A taste of tradition may serve them well.

I agree with Mike. It would be nice to see some of the newcomers to fly fishing start out steelhead fishing in the traditional manner...floating line, silver hilton, and going for the grab on the swing!

The old Silver Hilton Steelhead pattern is alive and well in Nor Cal. Still very popular on the Klamath and Trinity Rivers.

Some years back we floated the Deschutes camping and fishing for 4 days from below Maupin down the mouth. The favorite fly for our Oregon guide service was the Silver Hilton.

I heard that coastal Steelhead legend Bill Schadt's favorite fly was black and grizzly.

I personally think a Silver Hilton could represent an fall Isonychia mayfly emerger?
