A.R. Half Pounder's

I went out to the A.R. 3:30pm yesterday. The first 3 casts produced 3 dinks up to 11" like this one.

Then the fun began! I hooked into 2 large fish I never got to see. One was a screamer! The other may have been a sucker, not sure. Finally, a true half pounder! This fish was hot! It took to flight 6 times and ripped off line even in the slack water. FUN FUN FUN......

I was using a 6wt float with 4x-9' the first five grabbed a sparkle quill caddis-#12 and the last hit a #12 P.T. Theo hard.

I hope this is a sign the run is coming.

Nice Half-pounder. I have yet to get a 'true' half-pounder this year.
Were you swinging or indicator nymphing? Where did you get it?
I've been going out to Watt regularly and I've only been getting dinks, nothing even worse posting. I've seen a total of 1 half-pounder rising. I'm usually elsewhere on the river by now, but there are absolutely no salmon in the river.
I'm waiting for the reports to come out before heading to my normal spot.

Has anyone been upriver by Sunrise? It seems there are some salmon up there maybe half-pounders too?

Nice looking 1/2#'r! Judging by the dorsal fin, that fish looks to be of hatchery origin??

Great fish! After missing a couple, I caught my first half pounder Friday. It took the olive caddis pupa and shot out of the water. Got to bring out a camera next time... :roll:

I love swinging for those Halfpounders anywhere but the lower American is so close.

I bet they are in dozens of Valley streams that are open to the ocean.
