MSP (Mike Putman) and I are going to head up to the Trinity river Thursday morning and fish through Friday. I will bring me Pentax waterproof camera and I will try to get some cool pictures to share with you guys.
Does anyone have any current info/reports on the Trinity?
Good luck!
Can't wait for the pics and report!

Spoke to a guy who said he floated the lower section about a week ago with three other guys--all four of them very good fishermen. He said they kill'em--lots of steelhead in the river. I, on the other hand, was wading the upper section one morning last week. I didn't get a nibble but I did see some big salmon. Have a great time--look forward to your reports. -Rob

A slug of steelhead went through the lower Klamath a little over a week ago - maybe those are in the Trinity right now! Whack em and stack em (figuratively speaking of course!)

Hey Adam,
Might bump into you out there on Friday. We'll either have a black truck or a tan honda pilot. If you see two guys and one of those cars, drop by and say hey. Friday being our first day out there of the trip, we'll probably be moving around alot until we find the fish.
From talking to the hotel lady, it sounds like the fire has mellowed out.
Good luck out there!

Thanks for the info guys. I'm really looking forward to trading a day of school for a day in search of steelhead...shhhhh...don't tell my professors!
Paul, I'll keep my eyes open for you guys. Good luck to you as well!
The forest service has closed part of the river even to fishermen. Check which sections before you go. They may have opened it up but the fires are still burning as of last week when I was there.

I was up there Tuesday evening and Wednesday moring for a quick trip. I tied up a bunch of the flies Jason had posted from his last trip up there. Got one dink on Tues. and several dinks duing an evening hatch on Wed... I fished Tish Tang and the Rodeo Grounds. I saw one halfpounder at Tish Tang and several in the deep hole in front of Rodeo, no takers though. :(
I gotta figure out what I'm doing wrong. There were a few drifters and fly guys working Del Loma, maybe I was just in the wrong place. But I still couldnt get the halfpounders at Rodeo to hit, and I threw the kitchen sink and nada. 12 hour round trip to get skunked stinks, hope you guys have better luck!
