The CA DF&G released a bunch of small Steelhead from the hatchery and they took up residence in the fly only water.

It is very good fishing with a light rod but closes on September 15th.

There are a few larger Halfpounders mixed in there too.

Bill,

I fished the fly water on theTrinity Friday PM, Sat PM, and farther down the river off of Goose Ranch on Sat AM and Sunday AM. The fly water was good, a lot of fish between 12 and 14 inches and I got one adult fish about 5-6 pounds. A size 14 Adams fished wet was the best fly, but similar patterns produced as well. Not much in the way of hatches; there were some small Baetis coming off on Saturday, but not enough to make the fish selective. Lots of fishermen. There were almost no salmon in the river. Flows were 450 cfs according to Dreamflows and that is supposed to be the flow until September 30th. Water was very cold and clear. Great trip! Friday is the last day for the fly water, so that's it for me this year on that part of the river.
