My brother and I went to a wedding this weekend in Hood River Oregon. We drove up and stoppped in Mt. Shasta. On the way up we hit the Upper Sac but got skunked. We'd never been there, it was pretty obvious that this river gets hammered just y the number of people we ran into on a Friday morning. We hiked up to Mossbrae Falls which are amazing. I was trying to highstick a size 14 BH Haresear and my brother was mainly using dries. I also tried swinging a small wet fly and a larger rubberleg stone in the pocket water. A guide we ran into said we should have been using midge larva and stayed a ways back from the water. Oh well, it was pretty.

On the way back we hit the McCloud right above the falls. We were told there were redbacds in there but the guy must have thought we were talking about rainbows. I managed a nice brook on my Caddis pattern and then a 12" rainbow on a rubberleg stone in a nice plunge pool. The fish were rising to midges but no one seemed to ahve any luck.

Yesterday morning we finally found some Redbands in Trout Creek. There was quite a bit of restoration work going on there. It was a bit dissapointing to see the campground covered with ATV tracks and numerous crossings of the creek that get pretty hammered. It would be fine if ATVs would stay on designated trails but we saw many areas that someone spun some doughnuts in grassy meadows. Anyways we managed about ten redbans all on my Caddis pattern except one on a Stimulator. They are beautiful fish.
