I will be in the general West Yellowstone area the Labor Day week to fish -will float the Madison, fish some of the creeks in and out of the park, etc and would like to get a recent fishing report. Any ideas or direction anyone can suggest would be greatly appreciated.

Fish the Madison with streamers. I was in Montana all summer and the most exciting fishing was streamer
fishing on the Madison. Almost no one does it, but it is a lot more productive than nymping or dry fly
fishing. In two days my brother and i landed about 40 fish, and missed much more, all over 16 inches.
The only fly was an olive and white double bunny, size 2. We fished down below three dollar bridge for five
days, walking about three miles down and fishing up. The best spots were behind the big boulders and
in the slow water next to the bank. We were wading, but we are 18 and 21, so we were crossing the river
everywhere just to hit the best spots. the biggest we landed was only 21", but we moved some fishing
pushing 24". Here are some pictures from a week ago, just before i returned home. Also, the best
fishing was in the middle of the day.

If you want to throw dries, my brother did great throwing a size 6 daves hopper in the fast riffles,
places where you wouldn't expect a fish.

Here are some pictures of the streamer fish, most of them are of my brother because this is my camera.
All of my fish are on his camera, in Arizona.

The spots behind boulders were the best.
