View Full Version : Deer Creek 8/12

I went up to Deer Creek for a little photo/fishing trip with the family. My two year-old son's second real camping trip. I got 6 fish to hand and missed probably 10 others. One fish hit on a size 14 BH Hares Ear that really made my rod go bendo!! He didn't stay on too long but felt like he had some real girth to him. The rainbows were all around 8" but had beautiful markings. These fish had really orange edges of their dorsal fins. I hate Digicams, they're a royal pain to get good pictures with but they sure are handy to keep in your chest pocket. The last fish I caught I tried to get some good pictures of and took him over to the waters edge and held him in a pool with my net while I got my "real" camera ready. I got set up and had to move the net alittle and off he went!

It was alot of fun watching these 8" sharks rocket up out of the bottom of a pocket to slam dries.

A crazy Caddis hatch went off around 6PM. Here is a picture of all the bugs cruising around the surface of the water.

Fianlly the water was absolutley gorgeous. I recently bought a Fishpond Wasatch vest-pack from Kiene's. It enables me to carry my camera in a dry bag with my tripod strapped down in the rod tube holder. I definately get some wierd looks walking to the water with a tripod on my back! At any rate this is a place I will certainly be returning to.
