Fall is near so be thinking about planning a trip or two.

Here in California Fall is one of our best times to fly fish because it is not too hot and not too cold. Winds are usually low too.

Most of our better trout streams and trout lakes with fish well during this period. Mid-September starts the Isonychia mayfly emergence on the Pit River.

Black Bass will be feeding up for winter in farm ponds, lakes, reservoirs and our Delta.

Stripers will be coming back into the Delta for the winter.

Salmon and Steelhead will be in many western rivers. Halfpounders are coming in to many long rivers as we type here. I heard a large school of Halfpounder Steelhead came into the lower Rogue River last week. They are in many of our larger Valley rivers now too. Sept/Oct is tops for swing flies for Halfpounders on the west coast.

Oct/Nov is good for Steelhead on the upper Rogue, Trinity and Feather Rivers.

Get something on the calender before your wife fills up your 'dance card'.

Hi Bill,
Bruce and I are headed up to the Klamath out of Mary Ann's this weekend to check things out.

Bruce ran up as far as Coon Creek a couple of weeks ago and the river has really changed from last year's floods!! Much wider in places so the two handed rod will be an added bonus - start practicing!!!
