I just returned from a great trip to Alaska, with the highlight being short fly-in to a small lake for pike with my daughter and grandson. He was ready to try fly fishing, and I thought this would be a great chance for him to actually catch a fish.
He did great! I would make the cast and he would strip the gurgler-very effectively, I might add. After taking several small fish, and learning to lift the rod, he was ready for a bigger fish....which came in just a few more casts. :wink:

I'm hoping this will get him excited about fly fishing and making another trip with his grandpa.
