The American River in town is down to 4,000 cfs which is great for floating and not too bad for wading if you are careful.

There are Shad in the upper end of the river above the Sunrise Bridge.

Stripers are scatted all up and down the river.

There are some small Steelhead and some fresh Salmon too.

In local ponds and reservoirs the bass and panfish are active particularly in the AM and PM.

Mid-afternoons are good for TV or swimming now.

... or as Bell Lange use to put it, "... and Bass and panfish are on the move in foothill lakes and streams...."

When I started working in the '60s at Arden Sports Unlimited on Arden Way in Sacramento we were the sponsors for the Bel Lange Outdoorsman TV show.

He had one of those van campers with the pop-top and went everywhere.

I guess Bob Simms is taking his place now on KFBK 1320 FM radio on Saturday mornings at 6pm.
