I was in Spokane early in the week for business and on the way back is a spring creek called Rocky Ford Creek. It's about 2 1/2 hours east of Seattle. I just happened to packing a 4 wt in the trunk.

I read about this place being packed with VERY large, VERY finicky rainbows. The reports were correct. I spent about an hour throwing a bunch of things at 'em with a ton of rises but no takes. (Is there anything more maddening than making a good cast, drifting a fly right over a big trouts nose and having it rise then refuse your offering?! :x .)

Well, it took awhile but I figured it out, a sz 22 Griffiths Gnat. BAM. Three fish to hand in an hour. Did I mention BIG fish. The largest was 22" and the smallest was about 18". I kid you not!! I know exactly how big the first one was (22") because I was sure to measure it against my rod and got out the tape measure as soon as I got home! Now this certainly wasn't the prettiest placed I've fished, but with fish like that who cares!

The only bummer was that when I got there I was so excited that I rigged up and ran (seriously) to start fishing and forgot to dig my camera out of my luggage. When I was being stumped, I certainly didn'y think it was worth going back for :( , and once I started catching fish, there was NO WAY I was going back for it :D . I did however walk back after fishing to snap a few shots. Here you go...
