Saturday and Sunday I took my new Triumph 215 out for some sea trials on the delta. Saturday ws a beautiful day and I put the first five hours on my new Suzuki 175.

Sunday was something else! By the time we launched at 7:30 at B&W on the Mokelumne, the trees were already bent over and the wind was howling. We crossed the San Joaquin and it was more like the potato patch just outside the gate.

We cruised around for three and a half hours and although we did see some bass fishermen flipping tight to the banks, I didn't see a single person crazy enough to fling a fly line.

Glad to report though that the boat was pretty dry, even in those high winds. It should be a great striper season in the fall with all the water available.

Yep, I was going to go bass bugging on the Delta with the fly rod on Sunday until I stepped outside and looked at the tree in the front yard blowing sideways. Turned right around and went back inside. That tree is as good a weather report as any and better than most.
