On friday i fished the truckee and little truckee rivers. I hit the little truckee from about 11 to 2:30. I only brought
one to hand, but it was a nice 20". I was hoping for some dry fly action, but the water was too cold, and i caught that fish
on a black wooly booger.

Next i went to the main truckee river right above the little truckee outlet at the hirschdale exit. There was no chance
of dry fly action, and i did not feel like nymphing, so i threw big streamers for most of the day. I had about five 18-20"
rainbows chase a olive/white double bunny, but unfortunately i only landed one. As it was getting dark, there was
one run that looked too good to not throw a nymph, but i was too lazy to change setups. I just put a emergent sparkle
pupa off the end of my streamer. First cast, i caught a gorgeous 16", and about three casts later i caught an almost
identical one.

If you fish the truckee, make sure you fish right above the little truckee inlet. The water there is the warmest on the
river, and the fish were pretty active. I am sure i could have caught more on a nymph, but streamers are so fun.

Here are some pictures from the day.

Water temps in the Little T about 40 Main T about 45. It's going to be a while before the fish really start looking at dries, probably 2 more weeks at least.

Good looking fish and way to keep the fish in the water that's great.
