June Fishing Report: Fishing is great right now! Fall River has cleared and fish are starting to spread out. The nymph grab is wide-open from 11am-2pm with plenty of 12-18" rainbows being hooked. Dry fly opportunities are also plentiful. Look for the Hex hatch to start in a couple weeks. Hat Creek is looking great. Salmonflies and golden stones are about in the evenings, as are green drakes and other assorted mayflies. The Pit River has just dropped and is fishing very well in the Pit 3 reach. The McCloud is still high but is fishable in many areas. Open dates: June 13-15, 19, 21, 24-25.

July forecast: With the late spring we've had, I expect excellent fishing to continue into July. Most notably, water is plentiful on the Pit and McCloud and both rivers should fish better than average for July. The Hex hatch on Fall River should extend well into July, and the evening caddis grab is always great this time of year. On Hat Creek, we'll be fishing Trico spinners in the morning and Little Yellow Stoneflies in the evening. There should be excellent fishing on our local spring-fed stillwaters as well. The Upper Sac will also drop into fishable condition and should fish great. Open dates: wide open.
