We just need the flows to come down some.
They are lowering the American River to 5,000 cfs for the big holiday weekend.
Try to get out and float the river then.
There are Stripers in the American, Feather and Sacramento river now. April, May and June is the timing for the big spawning run.
Stripers run up the rivers to spawn the same basic time as the American Shad do and the Stripers eat a lot of Shad too.
You can catch Stripers on flies all day long so floating the river in a small boat can be a great idea.
Talk to Andy or Jim at the shop for excellent info on Stripers all year round.
