Lake Davis 4-10-06

While waiting for paint to dry I ran up to Davis to see if I could get any action.Weather wasn't bad...some snow showers and gusty wind.The road is plowed to Mallard and some intrepid individuals have driven in the snow past that.Some snow still on the shore and the water is way up!I was fishing a PT and a hare's ear under an indicator.Caught two beautiful fish in full spawning colors.One was 20" and the other was 22".I hooked and lost one other and missed a few grabs.All in all a fun outing at Davis.Jay

I think that Spring is when they spawn?

Thankfully no pike to be had.Don't know too many instances of pike taking small nymphs although I'm sure it's possible.If the winds don't get too bad this afternoon I'll see if I can tie into a few more trout.Jay

Try a Damsel using orange/yellow crosscut/Zonker rabbit strips, tied on a 3/0 hook....

I'm not interested in catching Pike.I've caught my share and they don't fight worth a damn.I made it back up to the lake in a snow storm.Snow turned to heavy rain and the fishing was good for the second day in a row.I only landed one(4#) but I lost 3 other hook ups.Hare's ear was the fly today.Jay
