A friend of who live down by New Melones sent me an email telling me that New Melones is one of the better reservoirs for fishing.
Trout are on top in the Fall, Winter and Spring.
It is also one of the top lakes around in the Spring and Fall for bass and panfish while they are in the shallows.
Trout go deep in the summer in those mid-elevation lakes.
Bass usually go deep mid-summer and mid-winter making them tough at that time for us fly fishers.
