I just wanted to mention that I'll be doing a show for the Granite Bay Flyfishers this Thursday evening (April 13th). I'm doing a presentation on Damsels and Dragonflies. You can contact the club for details. I beleive Bill has them listed in the links section?????
Cheers, Ken

Here is Granite Bay's web site with Ken's presentation and the fly club's meeting inform.

It is absolutely for the general public. They would love for you to come to the meeting. It is free and you will learn a lot. If you enjoy the club you might want to join some day.

Sturmer White will probably be there. I think it is really a good idea because we might be doing a lot of lake fishing this summer.

Thank you Ken and Bill.

I thought I would add a couple more words :^o to help others that might never have been to a Granite Bay Flycasters meeting.

Yes, Ken Hanley is speaking at this month's Granite Bay Flycasters meeting. :) Meetings are open to everyone, free and always on the second Thursday of each month, which is the 13th this month. Meetings start at 7:30 and the entry gate to the park closes (read locked) at 7:30 pm. It might be open longer now that the time change has occurred; however, I wouldn't count on that. If you do, you might be hiking into the meeting. It is possible as I have done that once before. :( Generally, we have a club member at the gate until 7:30 to help direct people to the Granite Bay Flycasters club house within Folsom lake. The park service has asked us to verify that all entering the park are going to the club meeting. So slow down and say "GBF" or some other phrase that you think will get you in. :D If the kiosk is open, definately say GBF as something else might not be taken as funny by the park service.

:!: Please note, you do not need to pay the state park entry fee to attend the meeting.

Generally, we get a large crowd at our meeting and based on who's talking this month I would expect a larger crowd. I would not be surprised if we have another full house this month; therefore, you might want to get there early to get a good seat. Parking is limited, so car pooling is strongly recommend and park close to the car next to you so we maximize the available unmarked space. :(

 A flash light might be useful when leaving the meeting as the lighting is not the best.

The club website has a wealth of information about the club and is located at

http://www.gbflycasters.org/

Also on the website are directions to the club's activity center:

http://www.gbflycasters.org/About%20GBF/directions.htm

In addition to Sturmer, Bill Carnazzo attends our meetings and does a fly tying demonstration  before each meeting starting at 7pm. Specifically, he demos the fly that will be the basis for the next meetings fly tying competition. The pattern (plus previous months) and competition information can be found in Bill's fly tyers corner on the website at

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Wow! What a great show and time! Thanks to GBF for bringing Ken here and allowing the public to attend. It was nice to meet Paul and to see Strumer again. Also thanks to Bill for having this Bulletin Board! :D

For this first time attendee of a Ken Hanley presentation, the words impressive and fantastic don’t even start to describe the experience. Highly informative, educational, and entertaining, I can think of only one thing better than attending one of Ken’s shows, and that would be to go fishing with him! :D

Ken did a demo tie of his “Hanley Hopper” sharing his tricks for tying this buggy looking strong (no glue) fly. I didn’t think it could get any better after learning how he does his furled Antron bodies, but it did! Ken passed the finished hopper around for closer inspection and it made its way around to me. After some uncontrollable drooling on my part, I reluctantly began to hand it back to Ken and to my surprise, and delight, he said “keep it”. :D :D !!!

Thanks Ken, it was a pleasure to meet you and attend your presentation on Damsel and Dragonfly nymphs and how to fish smart. I am looking forward to the next one. =D> !!!!

Yes, Ken did an great job.

The fly tying demo was great. In a few short minutes, a ton of information was shared.

The presentation was equally impressive. If a person doesn't know who to fish a damsel or dragon pattern they were asleep just like Tom. :D

Ken did an incredible job of making the presentation personal. Basically bring as many people into the presentation as possible. I think all of the 80 plus people that attended the meeting truly enjoyed themselves. Great job Ken.

Wingman, glad you got the fly. Seems like everytime you go to a GBF event, you get something.

Thank you Ken and see you at Kiene's open house,

Wingman and Paul,
Thanks very much for your support and kind words. I had a blast. It looked like the audience did too. I'll see you guys again at the Expo.
Cheers, Ken
PS: Wingman you have to fish that fly.
