Looking for some help from anyone who's familiar with the Bauer line.

I have an M2 (which is their 5/6 wt), which is no longer in production. I recently bought a spare spool (for SL2) which is the current replacement model according to their website. However, this spool is slightly smaller in diameter than my orignal spools.

Bauer says I may have mistakenly purchased an SL1 spool ???
I purchased it on-line and plan on sending it back. Just thought I'd see if anyone here can shed some light.

Thanks

Send it back. They're probably right. Bauer make great reels and have a very good service department. I've never had a problem dealing with them. Maybe they have or can find a spool to fit your reel. Paul (M2 SL)

I would send the whole reel to them. But before doing that, call or email Jon and let him know what your plans are. I"m sure Jon or Scott will set you up.

Years ago, I taught Jon Bauer how to fly fish and next thing I know, he's producing one of the top line reels

Before the fly reel thing John Bauer use to race a Trans Am Camaro on road courses to ~170mph.

Said he got to old for that so he took up fly fishing .
