despite the fact that it rained every single day, flash floods, severe thunder/lightning and even a couple tornados...it was still Maui and its a beautiful place and photograghy opportunities abound. I tried fishing from the beach a couple mornings but the water was either too rough or murky to fish much. I caught one fish, about a 3 foot long cornet fish on a char/white clouser.

I am not much of a photographer, but I thought I'd share some pics anyway.

Those pictures totally remind me of my trip to Maui...Beautiful Island

I'm glad that you had a nice trip. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Did you go to Hana?

We didnt go to Hana this time. We have been to Maui a few times now and this trip was a kickbacker. We've seen the whole island before so we didnt really do much. With the intense rains, I'm sure the water falls along the road to Hana were pushing maximum capacity. The driving was very treaturous with all the mud on the roads. It is slicker than ice. There was one weather report I heard that the low on top of Haleakala was -2!

The whale population was incredible. The locals said there has been 4 times the normal whale sightings this year! You could look out at the ocean and see at least one spout within 15 seconds of scanning the horizon. Trying to see all the whales was a bit like trying to see all the bikinis. Your head just snaps back and forth until it finally gets slapped by your wife

The picture of the sunset was the only one we saw in the 8 days we were there. We had just got in from dinner and I literally ran to the beach to get the picture. I was totally shocked at the crowd, I shouldve taken a picture of that. i had to muscle my way thru to the waters edge to get a clear shot of the sunset. I'd say 5000 people on the beach for that sunset would be way conservative (Kaanapali beach). Everyone was dying to see the famous Maui sunset.

That second to the last photo looks like a piece of heaven?

Where is that?

Thats the upper pool at the Maui Westin resort. I set my camera to night mode and left the shutter open for about 10 seconds.
