Salmon ? Now?

Just curious if anyone has seen any fresh salmon coming up the American? And, if so, are these really early springers, or remnants of a late winter run?

Just a teaser :wink: A very good friend just took one yesterday in the Feather and watched quite a few more rolling. Bright as a dime.

Yes, I saw a relatively clean salmon 2 weeks ago. One of the fly fishers across the river from me landed it. Looked to be about 20 lbs. and really clean.

When the flows jumped last February to 7900 cfs a number of Sacramento River winter run fish came up the American. One afternoon I thought I had a nice steelhead, but was surprised to land a large bright king. Quite a few made it up the ladder with the steelhead.

Before the 70's draught, huge declines, and the federal listing of this run; winter run fish were often caught in the Sacramento area. Good to see the population starting to rebound.
