Very cool. Much has been said and written about there not being enough effort to attract young people to the sport, but there's just no getting around the fact that it takes adults willing to help young people--their own and others--by getting them out fishing. That's awesome.

Its so much fun to watch a kids face light up when they catch a fish on a fly. I have way more fun when my boys catch fish and when I do.

Jason helped this young man catch his first fish on a fly on the Rubicon R..

And Cody helped this young man Catch his first fish on a fly on the Yuba River.

On his first f.fishing trip this young man landed 8 rainbows on the Middle fork of the American River.

I have a 6 year old that is just about ready for fly fishing. I've taking him out lake fishing with power bait just to get him out and he loved it! This year I think he's old enough to hit the N for of the Yuba for some nice dry fly fishing!!

Great PICS!

Rob,

It's been said before, but I'll say it again... You and your boys are true ambassadors of the sport. It is great to see. I can't wait for spring, my boy is ready too!

Rob,

Wonderful photos of you boy's. You are a blessed man.

I too have a young son that is very into FlyFishing. He lives and breathes it. I can remember starting him out at eight years old. Things where a little rough at first. But, he stuck it out. And now three years later, there's day's when he teaches me a thing or two when where out on the water. I so enjoy seeing that smile on his face when where in the outdoors. He's even been an influance to his mom, and has help get her started in the sport. It make me smile when I watch him showing her how to cast, or pointing out where the fish should be. He's truely a great son.

Getting your childern interested in the outdoors is a wonderful thing. I have spent meny day's out hunting and fishing with great friends and good people. But, until I spent those day's out doing those same things with my son, I realized how much more special that time is to me. I no longer care about how meny fish I caught, or if I get game. I would rather see him get that big fish, or make that great shot. He has given me a new perspective on the outdoors.

Hey Foothillflyfisher.

My boys are 19 and 17 years old now and Jason will be leaving next month on a Mission for our church for 2 years and when Jason gets back Cody will be leaving on a mission also. I may not have that many years left that my boys will be around. Not having them to fish and hunt with would be a sad day . We also have two girls Brandy in Alaska who has two boys and Stacy and California with one little girl and a boy due in March.I hope that the at least one of the boys will live in this area. Cody and I will be doing a lot of Deer and Elk hunting this year here in Utah. We just got some .50 cal.muzzleloaders to use. Cody will get the first chance at any elk or deer and after he fills his tags then it will be my turn to try.We love it here. We can see Mule Deer. Elk and Bald Eagles from our back yard. We also have a few good flyfishing rivers with in 10 miles of our home.

Take care and enjoy them young ones they grow up and leave way TOOO fast.
