This 5th annual show is "fly fishing only".

It is at the Marin Civic Center.

I heard it is crowded and they will be moving to a larger location for 2007.

Hope it is near water as a great thing about he Civic Center is it is the only show around where there is a large enough body of water to play with two handed rods!

I agree with Rick. The pond behind the building is great for demonstrations and casting rods. San Rafael is my favorite show, fly fishing only! Gregg and I had a lot of fun at the last show cast spey rods at the pond in the rain. Hopefully there will be no rain for our next trip to the show.

Here's a picture of Gregg casting off the little dock, perfect for specy casting.

I enjoyed casting the spey rods as well.

Gregg couldn't stop casting those spey rods. Scott had just releaseed their new LS2 rods and both of us feel in love and had a hard time returning the rods :)

That pond is great for demonstrations like the one in this picture.

The San Rafael show is the best IMHO. I hope to see you guys there.

I was at the show last year and the demo's were great! Joe Humphry's is a exactly how I hope I am when I am his age!! I already signed up for a clinic for this years show. Anyone looking to sign up should do so now before it gets too crowded!

See you all there!

I'm not sure yet. I think that Gregg wants to spend Saturday and Sunday there but we'll see what gets planned.

Some of us from the shop are headed down on Friday, Feb 17, the first day of the show.

We are scheduled for a seminar on the new Sage Casting Analyzer there @ 8:30am.

Last year was "papa" Joe Humphries last trip to the shows. He is pretty much staying close to home from now on. I was a great time having Joe, A.K. and Bob at the same breakfast table. You get to hear alot of "old timers" fishing trip stories with alot of the East Coast notables.
For those of you into the fly tying, i would highly recommend a tying session with one of the best - if not the best in the industry A. K. Best.

See you all at the show

Jay,

The schedule shows you and Ken speaking at 3:00 Friday about the Ten Best Saltwater Flies and the Fish that Eat Them. Is this pretty much the Baja Show or are you doing another seminar as well?

I sort of remember you saying you made some kind of change to the program a while back.

Looking forward to seeing another great presentation,
TONY

Tony,

the show on the 10 salt water patterns is one show and I will be doing the Baja presentation on Sunday morning, first thing. It's even going to be Power Point

Say Hey Tony,
"The 10 Best..." is a brand new show. We decided to create a program that focuses on pattern design features (based on habitat demands, fish biology, and field techniques). Everyone should be able to get something out of the presentation (not just fly tiers). We cover a lot of material. Hope to see you there.
Cheers, Ken

We will be headed down Thursday evening to overnight there because the Sage Casting Analyzer clinic for dealers is at 8:30AM.

Plus we hope to see some of Jay & Ken's presentations.

Looks like a good chance of rain this weekend too.

We went to the fly fishing show at San Rafael yesterday, Friday.

It is a good show that is 100% fly fishing.

Met some really interesting people and BS-ed all day with old friends.

Lots of manufactures had booths with all their new products for 2006.

It is today, Saturday(9am-5:30pm) and tomorrow, Sunday(9am -4:30pm).

I would recommend heading down there.

Gregg, Mike and myself traveled to San Rafael to check out the show yesterday. We cast a bunch of rods, saw new exciting products and BS'd with other fly fishing bums :)

We had a good time casting the rods:

We even saw a very stylish dog, check out those shoes!

San Rafael is a fun show. I must have seen about 12 of Kiene's customers yesterday. I enjoyed chating with my old KFS customer friends.

The product highlight of the show for me was the new Scott G2 9'4wt rod, AWESOME! Great trout rod!

I also got a chance to chat with Kiene's very own super star: Jeff Putnam. Jeff was showing his new spey videos on a large flat-screen T.V. at Gary Anderson's booth, talking about spey casting and Gary's new spey rods. I got a chance to cast a new spey rod, developed by Jeff and built by Gary, the 13'1" 6wt, what a nice rod. I hope that Bill has a few in the shop. A great rod for the American River!
