Had to hit the "A" after reading Flygolf's report. He was right on, listen to him and you too can get a fish or two :D

Also got a 1/2 pounder to round things out, good fish'in :) Not exactly a wilderness Steelhead experiance, but it beat the hell out of working on my garage shelving

Nice meeting you today Mark, and thanks for the reports!

Funny, I was out there this morning and I think I may have seen you catch those fish! (I was across the river, of course). Looked a bit crowded over there for my taste.

Keep up the good work!

Nice work MSP, beautiful steelies. Were you swingin' those Christmas Caddis or indonymphin'? I have put in a ton of days on the A and can't seem to figure it out consistently. Your post is definitley an inspiration.

What, no picture of just your hand holding those monsters? :P

Good luck to all.

No, wasn't using an indicator, just had to figure out the right amount of split shot to keep away from the hidden snags. Most fish came towards the end of my drift.

I'm going to have to get some bigger hands :D

Well Thom if you look real close you'll see I'm not wearing any waders, and I didn't get wet! Luckily Paul was close by to help with a couple of fish and was wearing his waders cause he thought it was going to rain.

Pretty impressive there, MSP. Most guys aren't even thinking of fishing right now, and you're out there knockin em dead, without even leaving the shore! =D>
I like the Christmas caddis too. Do you tend to use bigger flies when the water is dirty? Want to drop a hint of where you were fishing? Any hints to help us steelhead newbies are greatly appreciated. :D

Way to go Mike! Looks like you found a group of nice clean fish. Wish that s@#$ could have happened when i was there. I think the fish gods are trying to tell me that i should quit fly fishing.

PM I have been having pretty good success with adult Steelhead on the larger Poopah patterns. I just started using them last Fall on the Trinity so I can't say just yet how they may be in other rivers. Yesterday I put on the brightest pattern I had in my box with the clarity being what it was. Not sure if the pattern had anything to do with it as I didn't change flies all day. I saw a guy get one on a Prince nymph and that was the only other fish I saw taken on flies.

For location, just look for the crowd below the hatchery, find a slot and just stay there and wait for the fish to come to you. I saw no reason to keep moving around as the fish are moving right up the bank in these flows and eventually have to come by you

Good Luck!

All right Mike!! GREAT fish! You seem to always catch 'em no matter where you go. Great job!

I just had a guy in the shop yesterday who said, "I guess it will be about a month after it stops raining before we can fish the American?"

Well I guess they forgot to tell 'MSP' about that.

We have to fish a lot to catch fish. If we always wait for a good report we probably won't be on here much with photos.

Sadly many of us just don't have that much free time.

Well I guess I can just enjoy looking at Mike's photos.

Time to stop lurking over here after reading and looking at those picks. I also saw a few names from some other boards that I recongnize. I could always use some new connections for the NorCal area. Nice looking fish, after seeing those I can't seem to concentrate on work today. The water seems to clearing up nicely. Well I have to get back to work but I just thought I stop in and see what's up.
