This is a great little country to visit. We have been going down there for the past twenty years. There is tons of information on the web about travel in Belize.

It has a barrier reef ~20 miles out for most of its length on the Caribbean coast with about 300 small islands called cays inside the shallow protected area making it very special for fishing and snorkeling.

I would second that...great place where English is the first language, huge tarpon flats, and great diving. Was there with my wife and daughters and another family for 10 days this past August. Lodging and dining is very affordable, airfare can vary...looking forward to get back there.

If you every go to Ambergris Caye, on Wednesday nights in San Pedro is the "chicken drop" at a little bar on Front St, it's a kick in the pants, real local flavor.
