Adam and I try to mix up materials and tie things we haven't seen before. He had the idea of wrapping the body with a rib, instead of the traditional dubbing and wire, and I think it came out kinda cool... What do you guys think? I'm sure it's been tied before, I just haven't seen it...

There's an olive green thread underbody under the rib, which looks kinda cool when the light hits it right.

I had an opportunity to meet Bob Sheedy yesterday and we talked about his favorite stillwater flies. Bob is one of the premier stillwater flyfishermen out of Canada. He ties about 5 different variations off Mark Olinger's P-quad which stands for Pheasant, Peacock, Pintail, and Partridge. Gregg's fly reminds me of using many of the same components.
Bob utilizes Pintail flank as well as Partridge for the wing material since the partridge alone is somewhat brittle. One of his favorites is the Psychedelic P-quad, designed by Mark Vogel, which has a Flame Orange head and an olive marabou tail. He also ties in a section of 0.040 lead under the shank just behind the eye to keep the fly in a horizontal position and give it a slight jigging action.

These images are out of his book "Bob Sheedy's Top 50 Stillwater Fly Patterns" (I'm sure Bill Kiene can get the book for you, if interested.)
Bob uses the Psycho-quad in early Spring after Ice-out and also during late fall utilizing a sinking line with a slow hand twist retrieve. Not sure what the fly represents to the trout but it might be a respectable cased caddis or dragonfly nymph.

Kinda looks like a buggy guy.... Otta catch some fish.... Is the body material solid or hollow :?: :?: Seems like a bead head might add something for sink rate. :? :?

Gregg, nice looking tie you and adam came up with. I am sure that will work on many of our valley rivers!
