I fished Hat Creek this final weekend, and had a great trip. landed about
a dozen fish over the weekend, a few over 16 inches. the real excitement
came when i spotted king kong. The fish was bigger than any other fish i
have seen in moving water, and in the flat section at carbon bridge, he
looked very out of place. of course i tried to catch him, but after
bouncing a leech off of his mouth i decided he wasn't interested. i
watched him for a while, and then decided to try and get some pictures up
close. it turns out he didn't mind me standing a few feet away from him.
i am not completely sure, but i believe it was a brookie. here are some
pictures for your viewing pleasure.

HI Bolden,

Looks like a beefy fish... but it looks like a carp to me which would explain it's size..... I love fishing Hat creek too!

Too bad you didn't have a filter on your lens to eliminate the glare, etc.... :? It does look like a Trout (....has what looks to be an adipose fin and a square tail). :? Suckers all have a forked tail and don't have an adipose fin. If it's a Trout, it's sure a big fat guy.... :D :D

It looks like a very large, very old trout to me?
