Made a trip up to Round lake this weekend with my Dad, it's always a great trip anytime you can spend time with the one who tought you the outdoors :) . He dosent Fly fish (yet) but I'm working on that however he did good at catch and release :D . The lake is about a three mile hike from Hwy 89 out of Myers the lake is along side the Tahoe Rim Trail but sees little fishing (only two others all weekend) caught nothing but beautiful Cutts. Caught a few 6-8" fish a few 10-12"'s and about 30 15-18" awsome :D . When we got there the wind was supposed to be in the 18mph range but was about the speed of what I would expect to come from a jet turbine. I had planned on using my float tube but the waves kept me off the water  found one little cove that I could cast in without the wind demolishing any type of cast I tried had some sucess with a #12 phesent tail (Modified with wet hackle behind bead) which I'm sure had wonderful movement under the water with all of the wake on top. Sorry to all the purists but with the wind I fell victim to my upbringing and broke out my spinning rod [-X [-X I know thats bad but at least I didnt use bait :| (all fish released unharmed!!!) Gold kastmaster was the ticket it would only cast about 50' but the wind would pull off another 100' of line. I'm planning another trip and hope to get up there with no wind.

P.S. please dont pass judgment for the spinning rod thing just couldnt let my Dad out fish me!

David this is the best on line map I could find the trail is in great condition. It could be done in a day It is a climb for the first half mile then gradualy up for another mile and a half, then down to the lake (plan on up to two hours in) but the plus is it is 90% down hill on the way out (about an hour out).

Why catch one, here you can caych alot :D :D
