Aloha, what do you guys do about liability insurance when guiding? Just wondering what a policy runs, and who you get it from? Thanks, Mems.

You only need insurance if you have assets. If you are worth a million, you should consider a million in insurance.
Even if you have no assests, you should extend some kind of coverage to your customers..even if just for a courtesy.
The cheapest, and best insurance, is offered by Markel Insurnce. They have an agent in colodrado. It is Gray's Insurance Team, 721 North Union Blvd, Colorado Springs, co 80909. A few years ago, they offered $3 millon in liabilitycoverage for $475. It offerd some medical for your customers, and other things

Say Hey Mems,
I would first check with your state department to get the requirements for a guide license and commercial business. Most states "require liability insurance" as part of your business package. You could also be required to carry an additional surety bond to protect your clients investment. That's ceratinly the case here in California. Costs for insurance coverage vary greatly... much depends on how you operate your business. Boats? Rentals? Food services? Lodging? Contract services? In-state operations or out-of-state and out-of-country??? Your best bet is to begin by calling an insurance expert. Best of luck.
With respect, Ken
