I wish everyone could get out on the lower American and other Valley rivers now early and late in the day to see if the Halfpounders are in?
I can remember one year (~20 years ago) in late Augsut (pre-Internet) when a guy came into the shop and said, "I was just down at the Log Hole last night and a guy was catching these silver trout about 16" long on a spinning reel with a Roostertail spinner!" He asked, " Would they take a fly?"
After selling him some flies I got on the phone and called my brother Dick, Al Perryman, Joe Shirshac, Mel Jeffs and several other Halfpounder adicts.
That's how it would generally start every Fall.
