Carl,
Very Nice!

What a great report and what a way to make the most of this year's Dorado season. I was down for a couple of days after the 4th and had a very fun time. Great place & I'm sure that the Dorado will cooperate much better next year. Your report on the night fishing off the beach made me jealous. Thats one thing I didn't get time to do.

Best,

Frank

Carl,

I attributed the night fishing in front of the Oasis /marina to you, but now realize that wasn't you, but from another post I saw on the web. Sorry about that. But...... That marlin was one nice fish. Just out of curiosity, did you focus on the bigger fish in the first part of the day or later on in the day? For the two days we fished we went out in search of Dorado/Marlin in the early part of the day and rockfished on the way back. I wonder if we might have had a bit better success with the big guys the other way around?

Take care,

Frank

This is the beach at Kahuku Ranch on the Big Island of Hawaii. I went camping over the weekend with my son, Luke and some friends.

We did some fishing at this beach. Luke hooked a nice bluefinned trevally, but it broke him off. He did land a small 2lb one that we panfried for dinner along with some lobsters we got diving.

We caught all kinds of fish, this is a nohu or rock fish.

The waves were small but hollow.

This is my friend's wife and new little daughter.

The beach is in the middle of a lava field.

We camped in this little cove.

Luke made a cave on the shore.

He spent most of his time looking for fish.

When we got home, we found out it rained 20+ inches in two days. Those are some of our soccer fields in the background. It was great to get out of the rain for a couple of days. Mems.

Mems,

Great photo's. That little shore break is looking pretty good. I remember places like that back in my old days on the island. We use too walk the corral reefs at night and poke pole.

Makes me want to head to the islands. The family might have a trip planned later this year or for sure next year. Trying to get everyone off at the same time is next to impossible... Great to be retired
