Greetings Anglers -

I just returned from Tarpon Cay Lodge (TCL) on the northwestern coast of the Yucatan (check out my trip report - http://www.kiene.com/messageboard/viewtopic.php?t=1123) The fishing was so incredible that Bill Kiene and I have decided to make a "last minute" trip to visit their other destination in Campeche (further down the coast).

The owner of TCL, Marco Ruz, explained to us that this region is at least 10 times larger and is another incredible fishery for baby Tarpon - 10 to 60 lbs. What really got our attention is the opportunities to sightcast to cruising tarpon on the flats (like bonefishing, except the fish are Tarpon!) In addition, like TCL there are many mangrove-lined lagoons, creeks, and bays.

If you are interested in joining us on this angling adventure, here are the trip details:

TRIP DATES: August 22-28, 2005

Say Hey Keith,
I've fished that area many moons ago (about 15 years ago?). The place was great. It's actually one of my favorite stretches of Mexico's coastline. The baby tarpon were terrific. There's also snook. Amazing mangove opportunities abound throughout the region. Baracuda are another fun species to target down there. ENJOY!

Definitely looks like a great opportunity. With an Alaska trip in August, my month is done. Maybe I can join you guys next year.
Best of luck to those that go. I'd love to read a report when you get back!
