I enjoy shad spey fishing very much. The weather in Chico hasn't been cooperated with my schedule well enough to fish for the shad in the Sac yet. I hope to go out as soon as I kick this stupid cold. I like a spey rod when fishing for shad because I can cover more water and re-cast much faster than a standard single-handed fly rod.
Anyone here spey fish for shad?
How do you like the spey rod compared to a standard rod?

It's the only species of fish that I spey cast for. I'm not a great caster but it's fun because I can still catch fish this way. I guess I'll have to take another class from Jeff so I can chase Steelhead with it too.

Sturmer, how's the American been fishing lately?
Flygolf, lessons are a huge help, especially with spey casting. Keep up the spey fishin'

Fishing is exellent. The catching also.Besides that Sly Park is hot for both trout and bass. Those small mouth are the best fighters around.
