So got up this morning :D to go fishing for some Shad or Striper’s but when I got the American River all the gates were closed all down the river. So what to do now well my drift boat and I went to Folsom Lake to see  what was going on there. To my surprise the water tempter was 70 in the coves. I was throwing closures then all of a sudden wham the fight was on it lasted about 6 mins it was a great fight! So guys it was a 6 pound guess what? It was no it wasn’t a Bass it was a carp it hit the closure what is that all about I have never see such a thing. So for the rest of the day I started catching Bass some large mouth but most was small mouth Bass. They were from 1-3 pounds I landed 10 it took 3 hours to find them but when I did it was a blast they were hanging around big rocks by the shore but the depth would trop to 15-20 feet. Well all in all it turned out to be a great day. [/img]

I have never heard of a carp grabbing a streamer like that, weird, but cool.

I like the use of the boga, you can weigh the ugly @%$##* and get the hook out without touching it.

Those ugly fish creap me out, but yet I still am curious about their strength.

I always see large numbers of carp schooling in the shallows around Folsom Lake this time of year, has anyone had much success flyfishing for these monsters? I have tried a variety of nymphs without any luck.
