Last night was the May meeting of the E.C.Powell Fly Fishing Club in Yuba City. Jay Fair and his son Glen gave a great presentation on fishing Eagle and Davis Lakes but the techniques used could be for anywhere.
Jay is best known for his marabou flies and his guiding of over 35 years.
I've fly fished all my life and feel pretty comfortable when I get to wet a line, but last night with Jay was a real learning experience. Jay is surely an old sage. Listen to your elders and pick their brains and it's amazing what you can learn no matter how old you yourself are. There's no substitute for experience and this is where this board too is so valuable to learn from.
And now with all the rivers blown out for a while we might consider fishing some of our favorite lakes till this run-off slows down some.
Looks like things will be a little late everywhere this year.
