Been workin' on an improved (my own) smolt pattern for Stripers. Don't have any pictures but descrition follows:
Hook: Mustad 3366 Bronze, size 2 - 4
Body: Flat silver Mylar
Tail: sparse white bucktail (slightly longer than body, supports wing)
Wing: Tie in sparse layers and at the head, under - two strands, each, pearl and silver fire fly (tie in long and trim to size later), mid: white Polar Hair, thin; 1 strand pearl UV Flashabou each side; pink Polar Hair; 3 strands pink Midge Flash (tie in and bend back to create 6 strands); polar ice Angel Hair; Top - 4 - 5 strands root beer Midge Flash (tied in long and bent back). Eyes: silver/black molded eyes; epoxy head. This fly works out from 1 1/2" to 2" in length.
Trying to figure out whether to try parr marks or not..... Any thoughts :?: :?:
