The oldest dispute in the Universe, one which has been so contentious that it possibly was the
fuel for the Big Bang, may have ended right here in Oregon. Hardy Myers (wonder if he was
named after the reel maker), the Attorney General, has ruled what the common man has known
all along: the riverbank to the high water mark is legally accessible to all. Not a tough call to
make since it was WRITTEN into the State’s initial Constitution, but since that day in 1859 no
one has wanted to touch that rotten tooth. My boy Hardy pulled out his pliers and dun’ plucked
that tooth so hopefully debate over red letter law can cease.
Yes, for the first time since man emerged from the water he can fish the water without threat
of prosecution. Mankind could have avoided the whole mess without evolving, thus making the
case for my cellular state of being.
