On March 5 and 6 the Department of Fish and Game will be conducting field trials on several promising methods to reduce the threat of transferring New Zealand Mud Snails on wading gear. This is the final phase in what has been a year long study process. Phase 1 identified the pesticides most effective for killing NZMS, Phase 2 identified which of these products were most friendly to fishing gear and the environment. Phase 3 will compare application techniques of the various products in “real life” terms.

DFG is looking for as many people (at least 25 per day) as possible to wade fish in Putah Creek (local guides are being rounded up to show you the ropes) then come back to the parking lot to have waders de contaminated by DFG personnel. Hours are 8:00 – 4:00 at fishing access number 5. Come for a few hours or come for both days – it doesn’t matter, just come!

I think this is Ralph Cutter who has been working on this NMS problem for a long time.

It would be a wonderful cause to go donate a little time so they can figure some things out that would help with this big problem.

In case you didn't know where Fishing Access #5 was, I found a map on the fishsniffer site.

Hello everyone,..... Just a note to bring this topic back to the front of the line.... This seems important to me as it might provide a solution to the problem of at least one invasive species, the NZ Mud Snail. 8) 8) 8)
