Before or in between run offs valley streams can provide a variety of fly fishing experiences. In the north state the South Fork of the Feather River just above Fobestown Dam upstream to golden trout crossing and Butte Creek in the Butte Meadows area can offer a chance to get out and rid yourself of the winter blahs. Don't forget, the Upper Sac is open as well as the North Fork of the Feather River up highway 70. With all the dams on the north fork you can always find water to fish. Have seen fisherman at both the last three weeks. Check your DFG regs!

Hi Dave.

Jason and I sure had a great time with you on the Feather and that other great Creek  . Hope everything is good with you and your family.

Here is a photo of Jason teaching a young man some of the things you taught him.
Take care.

Rob, I enjoyed guiding you and the boys. Your family is an important part that makes this sport so wonderful. I wish I could have had Jason spend some time with Lee Wulff. My time alone with Lee was the most treasured time I have experienced in my enjoyment in fly fishing. Jason would have truly appreciated and understood the things he said and felt about fly casting and the sport in general. I hope to see you on the stream this upcoming season.

Rob, I never had the opportunity to fish with him but, did have the opportunity to sit and visit with him. The first time I met Lee was at the San Mateo Sportshow. I stopped by his booth and both he and Joan were present. He introduced himself and began asking me some questions. I told him that I was just starting out in flyfishing. He grabbed his FlyO and asked me to follow him outside. First, we sat and just talked about the beauty of fly fishing which included the fish, environment, and finally the art of casting. He then took the flyO and began teaching me how to cast. We spent about 45 minutes alone that day. It was an unforgetable experience! We got together one more time prior to his death for about 1/2 hour. I was lucky enough to be chosen as the recipient of the Lee Wulff Memorial National Conservation Award, given by the US Fish and Wildlife Service in 1992 at the Jackson Hole One Fly. Joan Wulff presented the award at the Saturday night dinner of the event. I recieved a framed print of his favorite salmon pool with a fly he tied himself along with the bronze of Lee fly fishing that was created by artist, Bob Wolf. Just reading Lee's books would give Jason an opportunity to get to know him. David
