-Any o' U dudes up for it ?? I think it would be fun ...
A fixed number of people (say , 12 ??) would tye 13 of a style (Dragonfly nymph , Steelhead fly , Bass bug , etc ...) and send them to me , in return , each person would get back 12 flies and the extra one could go to someone needy , flyshop raffle , the Smithsonian , .... Somewhere !!
C'mon , give up those opinions .... David Lee :D

Hi David! I think it would be fun too, but I'll wait and see what category everyone wants to tie -- I think it would take me WEEKS to tie 13 bass bugs.

Hi David...Since I've only been tying for a year I'd throw my fly in the ring! I've devloped several patterns borrowing ideas from existing patterns. Some of them are working down here in Martinez but I'd like to see if they can work on the American. Let me know. Thanks. Thom

O.K. ! 3 down .... This should be fun ! I did a swap w/ the NCFFB last fall . It was very interesting to see flies from different people (I tye all of my own , so I'm not up on what's going on ...) .
The rest of you .... well , don't be shy - jump on board .D.J.L.
How's this one ? BIG Nymphs ???

Hi David...If you get enough bites maybe folks would also consider sending along their tying instructions? Just a thought. Thanks. SullyTM

Hi David,..... Since I'm a collector, too, a swap sounds like fun and an opportunity to learn something. 8) 8) What about letting each tyer pick their own specialty or rotate the specialties :?: :?: (of course this latter means a longer duration swap)

There're are several categories that could be divided between traditional and current..... :?: :?:

I'm in.... mostly trout flies for me, but I can tie anything I guess. I guess we should tie stuff everyone uses but I guess it doesn't really matter. I'm up for some caddis fly larvae, have a new pattern that should work well around here.

What kind of flies are we tying first? I have never tied any bass bugs, but will tie just about anything else. Flies for the american would be good! Let me know and i will probably joing in.

O.K. - let's try this .
The catagory will be Big Nymphs ..... big is relative , if you're used to fishing #22-#26 nymphs , a #18 is LARGER .... for this swap ANY Nymph sized #12 to #2 is do-able ...
I have , so far got Myself , Hairstacker , Darian , PM , Jason , jgoding , Terry Thomas , SullyTM
I will keep entry open untill we get a total of 12 tyers , or next weekend (Sat. , Feb. 5th) . Anyone needs to change anything , or questions please Email me or P.M. me . Flies due March 5th , total number to follow .
Will this work for Y'all ??? D.J.L.

As my Australian pals say , good on ya , boys !
PM - ANYTHING you want (ugly is good !) , just make 'em #12 to #2(all the same size , of course .) ...yours , or another persons pattern .... it don't matter . Will get back to all of you with the numbers after swap entry close Saturday . D.J.L.

Alrighty!! A size #2 pheasant tail, hahahaha!! An interesting choice as I don't do too many nymphs that size. Only a few things come to mind, helgramites, dragon flies, damsel flies, and the larger stones..... and of course hex's. Did I miss anything....

Craneflies , Alderflies , October Caddis , Aquatic Moths ..... ??? D.J.L.

I guess I can still tye my caddis pattern. I do tie it on a tiemco 205 #20 but it might as well be a #10....it's freaking big enough... I need to learn to go to the shops and check hooks and their sizes before I buy them.... I guess I can tie it on a #18 cuz you could probably tie rope to it and grapple!! I know it has to do with hook gap size.... but still..........

Or I was thinking if developing a wiggle nymph damsel...... get to try my C&F extended body tool out!!

For your sake , Jeff .... #12 to #2 . O.K. ?? D.J.L.

Trust me David, the size #20 is a #10 for most hooks. It's pretty sizeable, so don't worry.

I'm in as well! I'm not the most versatile tier, but I can hammer out a few pattens. If you need an extra, I'd be more than happy to partake! :D

Hi David! Works for me too. Let's see... big, ugly, and no restrictions on what it's supposed to represent or what fish might be interested... I think I can handle that. :)

I will be tying a #10 olive bird of prey. It is the number one nymph i use on the american for steelhead and swinging for half pounders in the fall and spring. It is tied by a friend of mine, Rick Anderson and has become a popular caddis pattern. I think you will all like it!

David...Where do we send our flies? I'll let you know tomorrow what kind of nymph I'll be tying. I might break out one of my own creations instead of something traditional. Later. SullyTM

I would also like to swap a few flies. Let me know if you already have enough tyers. Jason you can't have any :D

David...Depending on getting a few materials, I'll be tying either my Green Envy Beadhead Nymph or an Ammonite Nymph size 12 or 10. Thanks again for the opportunity to share.

David Lee
