Being a photo nut myself, and am interested in knowing what camera you folks are taking out on the water. Are you into compact? High Resolution? Digital SLR? Waterproof/Water Resistant? Each style has their own advantages and disadvantages.

Canon A95 w/waterproof housing
Canon 10D Digital SLR

Hi Eugene! I use a Kodak EasyShare CX4300 camera. It's a 3.2 megapixel camera, and its no. 1 feature is it was inexpensive. Thus, even though it's not waterproof, I don't hesitate to take it with me when I flyfish out of my inflatable kayak:

I am using the Canon 'Pro 1' which has a '28-200mm' zoom lens and is 8 MPX. Very good camera but not an SLR.

My wife has a smaller Canon A95 which is 5 MPX and has a 3x optical zoom.

And I have a Sony U60 water proof to 5' 2.0 MPX

Now if I just really knew how to use them................

I'm using a Minolta 7D digital. It just hit the market late last year. It's a 6.1 mega pixel. The good thing is that I have two other minolta cameras and all the lenses. I also have a Olympus C50 5.0 mega pixel. I do have and underwater camera case, in which I've used to shoot White Bass swimming up the Naciemento river to spawn.

I use the Pentax Optio 43WR.

Water resistant down to 3ft for 30 minutes.

I love it :!:

It has a nice macro feature that allows me to take some cool pics of insects and flies.

I really enjoy the ease of digital photography. :D

I use a Nikon Cool pix4300.

My wife Candice bought it for me for Christmas last year.
I have a 1971 Nikon F2 that I love but have not used since I got the my digital. I would like to get a slide scanner next to scan the tons of slides I have . My Coolp pix takes great sunset and close up photo's.

This photo of Cody was taken on the side of Thunder peak. Near Kirkwood on hwy 88.

I used to be a full time photojouralist (fourteen years) and put my gear in the closet when I switched professions (dotCom nonsense, don't ask), but when the quality of digital SLRs started heading North the same the price headed South I decided to blow the dust off of old Nikon lenses and purchase a D100.

I've fallen in love with photography all over again and carry my camera everywhere.

The image quality is great though the shutter response is a bit slow, it's kind of a drag when I shoot my kids' sporting events.

Here are some shots of the American River taken with my D100 and old F3 and F4:

Ed,
Those are beautiful. Makes me want to get my old Nikon SLR out and see what it can still do. With the convenience of the digitals, it's easy to forget that sometimes things are still very nice "the old fashioned way"! Of course some talent is also neccessary, which you obviously have! 8)
