Just taking a short look around I found at least twenty Alder Creeks in northern California, one just a few miles south of my place on the Mendocino Coast.

But in my lifelong pursuit of small creeks to fish I have run across Alder Creek near Truckee. Crosses 89 just north of town and it looks like it feeds Prosser. Other than that I cannot find much information about fishing or access.

Any insights from the collected wisdom?

Is it worth pursuing (I am drawn to fish the East side of 89 from the topo maps but see very little access) or shall I defer to my usual in that area...fishing the Little Truckee West of 89, a place I love to fish even though I have never had great "success" there...success being relative of course, after all just being able to fish there is a successful day!

As always, Thanks for any help.

Alder Creek in Tahoe Donner is a very small stream. Fishes best in the late spring. It used to have a healthy population of small Brook Trout, but I have not fished it in years, so I have no real current information. I would imagine that the 3 drought years put a dent into this stream as far as fishing quality.

Thanks Yubaman.
Do you think it is smaller than Sagehen Creek? (Another favorite)
