MFFR Above Portola?

I will be passing by Portola in mid July and I have never fished above Clio (and only fished the MFFR twice). Are there any trout above or near Portola or at the Beckwourth crossing or is going be carp only up there?

Bob, the trout come up to that area earlier in the year March-May when the water is higher and colder. After that they move down into the canyon below Nelson Creek where it's always cold. So probably not worth your time trout fishing that area. Carp yes. I have seen some big ones while playing golf. But I'm sure they're very skittish.
