Reports have been mixed, but the Upper Sac is just about down to 500 CFS, which is higher than summer time flows but a very good level for the river. Golden Stones are out, heard some green drake rumors, saw a little green drake tonight (Flav), assorted caddis, and who knows what else. Dry Fly fishing will be at its' best for the next few weeks.
At the risk of adding to the crowds (slightly joking there, the Sac rarely gets truly crowded, however certain spots can) now is the time to come.

Thanks Steve,
It is so much appreciated having you post here.
On an average year, June was always a top month.
We had a little cabin there for 10 years, across the street from guide Fred Gordon, whom I grew up with in Sacramento.
We have some great memories from those days in Dunsmuir, fishing the Upper Sacramento River.
Joe Kimsey and Bob Grace were running the Ted Fay fly shop. Call that shop for some good info.
When we went to Madelena's Italian restaurant on Saturday nights, with Fred, Nicole, Marilyn, and I, it took us a while to get to our
table, saying high to our customers/friends and Fred's customers. Those were some of the Good Old Days for us.
Like Steve said, get up there, ASAP.
It gets harder to fish in July, August, and September. It usually picks up in October/November.
