Glad to see that the river is healthy for more users than just us fly fishers. Wonder if any fishing guides will offer multi-day floats?
Got an email from Indigo Creek Outfitters Tours that they have added rafting tours to the upper Klamath, through the canyons where the old reservoirs and dams were.

The Klamath River is so exciting.
Soon, it will be one of the great adventure and fishing rivers in America.

You can go on a 4-day Half-pounder Steelhead drift boat float trip down the Rogue River, overnighting at 4 different remote lodges.
I was looking into it, and they recommended the first week in September as a prime date to go for Half-pounders.

I think it can be organized through Morrison's Lodge.

Worthington fly fishing I believe is the only outfitter offering multi day overnight trips. He has a really cool setup with a float in glamping camp and amazing riverside meals.
I'm doing a 2 night float with my kids 6th grade class next week putting in at Happy Camp.
I don't know anything about this river but I am sneaking in a rod so we shall see (pending review of the regs.).
Last time I was on the Klamath was camping above Happy Camp during the July fires of 2021 and the river was like bath water.
Great fun with the kids and tubes but I didn't like thinking about the fish and how they were doing in the warm water.
River Dancers will be hosting the trip 25 kids 14 adults.
They also advertise fishing trips.

well if there are no fish in the river, you might as well use it for something else...like the Russian river. Soon will be loaded with fish .....perhaps.....maybe....in the near future....hopefully. The morphing of the fishing guides into raft guides.....the future looks bright.....yes like fly fishing shops.

I hear that lots of folks will be fishing the Klamath River this year, so we will get reports.
The most exciting thing to happen in my lifetime is that they are removing dams.
At 80 now, I will not fish the Klamath River again, but I am happy to see the 4 dams out.
It is possible that the Klamath River could become one of the best salmon and Steelhead rivers.

There's always something to fish for in the Klamath. Water temps will be on the rise but my guess is that it's still cool enough for fishing. There are a few cold water tributaries that support summer run steelhead (Elk and Dillon Creeks come to mind) as well as the Salmon River if you get down as far as Somes Bar. Those tribs are all closed to fishing however fishing below where they enter the Klamath can be productive. The river is still quite turbid up where I-5 crosses it between Hornbrook and Yreka.
Well,
I got back from the rafting trip, roughly 40 miles over 3 days 2 nights.
The water was high and fast visibility was maybe 2' sporadic salmon fly hatch. I wet a line a couple of times but the water was high and the murky. Not the time or the place for me this time.
One of the rafting guides is also a fly fishing guide. He has not been fishing the Klamath since the dams have come down but mainly focusing on the Trinity.
He said the steel head bite was great recently with him targeting them on the dry.
Good luck out there.
