I don't think we were worried about yellow-legged frogs in 1971.

This book is a classic. Many of these trips listed took place in the late 1950's or 1960's just by looking at the pictures and backpacking gear. The Hayden's go to some really spectacular places that are still good today. Wide variety of places from Marble Mountains, Lassen, East Carson Drainage, Bishop Area, Kern River, and High country south of Mt. Whitney. I rate this book pretty high in my fishing library. A lot of it inspired me as a young kid to go out there and explore. Highly reccomend this book.

Does he recommend catching them and using them for bait?
I do see that used copies are available on Abe books for a lot less than on Amazon.
